DENPA 电波 - Asian Idol Group in Australia (ft. Himechin)
I interview some of the members of DENPA 电波 (ft. Himechin) during one of their practice sessions about what being an aspiring Asian Idol Cover Group is like in Australia, their thoughts on the industry plus a message for their fans at the end of the video.
Asian Idol groups are not common in Australia so I interviewed DENPA 电波 to gain some insights into the people behind the costumes. They cover a variety of songs (Chinese / Japanese / Kpop / Anisong genres) and are one, if not the only, Idol group promoting Chinese pop culture in Australia as all of the members are of Chinese heritage, brought together by their love of Asian pop culture and gaming.
Idol subculture may come across as weird or strange to most people but I think it’s great to see people passionate about their craft. Thanks to DENPA for actually replying to my messages (I didn’t realise that Himechin was already quite well-known in otaku circles until well after the interview).
